You know your son is about the cutest kid I've ever seen. But then again, I could be biased.

Glad to hear that you are attempting to chase after a career that will make you happy instead of one that you just view as a 'job'. I really don't understand how people can just settle for a career, I mean this is the thing you will likely be doing for the next 40-50 years, wouldn't you want it to be something you actually enjoy doing?

I see kids going into (or already attending) college all the time that complain about not knowing what they want to do with the rest of their life, the thing that I try to ask them is "well, what do you like to do? What is your hobby, what is it that makes you happy?" If you know the answer to that, then you should know what you want to do for the rest of your life. Take a look at the thing that you enjoy doing the most (playing and discussing video games was mine) and figure out how you can make a career out of it.

I write too much as well. :)

Oh yeah, my latest blog details a big reason why I love my job and what made me perfectly happy to work on a Dora the Explorer game.

Found your blog! Glad to see you got it started, as I've been devouring game designers' writings as of recent.

Why do you think I'm trying to learn about game design? It really clicked with me a few months ago that I have to get into game work when I was eating lunch with my coworkers. I'm working for a software company (business-type software) and everyone at lunch would talk about this that and the other related to the software, and I just couldn't find myself into it.

But whenever we start talking about games, I get really excited and I could really talk for hours, days, weeks. And I'm not just talking about the "this game is fun, that game is not" sort of level. It's trying to understand different aspects of the game that I really get a kick out of.

I remember when I was in college I wasn't sure what I was going to major in, and then I took a CS course. I found myself looking forward to the next assignment, and realized that that would have to be my major. I'm beginning to get that same feeling as I'm working on my own project.

That's all for now... I write too much.

Anyway, I think that compared to current games, Turok wouldn't look all that great.

I think that original (Turok: The Dinosaur Hunter) was the first or at least one of the first games on PC that used power of graphic accelerator.

Ah, those were the days!

The most used accelerator at that time was called 3dfx Voodoo, but then it was replaced by other cards eventually.
